What is a company name?
In the UK, you need to register your limited company or limited liability partnership (LLP) with Companies House. This registered company name will default to your company name when you create your company in the Adoptech portal.
What is a trading name?
Many businesses in the UK run their operations under a trading name(s) that is different to their company name. Trading names often reflect a brand or cover a subset of the company's products/services. Unlike a company name, a trading name cannot be registered as an official name of the company.
Changing your company name
If you change your Companies House registered company name (or if it was entered incorrectly), and want to change this in the Adoptech portal, contact one of our team via the chat and we can arrange this for you.
Changing your trading name
To change or add a trading name in the Adoptech portal:
- In the left hand menu, select Profile under Company Information.
- Under the Company profile section, select the Pencil icon on the right hand side of Trading Name.
- Type your trading name in the modal and select the Policies checkbox if you would like the trading name to be applied on generated policies in place of your company name.
- Select Update.
