How do I complete a control review?

Reviewing a control confirms that your compliance procedure is still accurate and that the checks linked to it remain relevant. Adoptech tracks when each control was last reviewed and flags any that are overdue.


Finding a control

  1. In the left-hand navigation, go to Compliance → Frameworks
  2. Select the Controls tab at the top of the page
  3. Find the control you want to review and click on it

Reviewing the control

1. Click Initiate Review. This opens a three-step guided drawer.

2. Review Compliance Procedure. Read the compliance procedure shown on screen. Once you are satisfied it is still accurate, tick I confirm the procedure is accurate and up to date, then click Next.


3. Review Linked Checks. A table lists all checks linked to this control, showing each check name and its compliance status. Once you are satisfied they are still relevant, tick I confirm the linked Checks are relevant, then click Next.

💡 If no checks are linked, the step will say "No linked Checks for this Control." You can still proceed.


4. Confirm Next Review Date. The next review date is pre-populated based on the control's review frequency. Review the Review Summary, which confirms what was completed in the previous steps, then click Finish.

To set a different date, click the pencil icon on the Next Review Due card and select a date from the calendar.


5. After the review. The control's last reviewed date updates immediately and the status badge returns to Review Up to Date. To see a log of all past reviews, click Review History on the Activity tab.
