The Devices page provides an overview of the end-point devices being monitored by your company with the help of the ActiveProtect or a supported MDM (mobile device manager).
Device Management Tools
We advise all clients to have a device management tool installed on employee laptops/ workstations. Ideally the tool is also installed on mobile phones.
Clients that do not already have a device management tool in place often select to install CyberSmart's Active Protect. If a more advanced tool is appropriate, Adoptech can provide discounts on many of the MDM tools available in the market place - ask a member of the team for details.
Devices Page
- Select Company Information/Devices from the left-hand side menu
- If you have run an integration with a device management tool, you will see a list of assets being monitored and tracked within Adoptech using your chosen tool(s).
- ADD SCREEN SHOT
- Note you can also see an individual user's device(s) status via their user profile on the People page.
-
If no device management tool has been integrated, you can set up an integration on the Apps & Integrations page here
Compliance symbols
The following symbols are use to identify a device's compliance status:
- a green tick means that the asset's security protocol has been met.
- a red exclamation mark means the asset is not compliant with the relevant security policy.
- a green shield in a circle indicates that the status of at least one control has been overridden; see below for overriding a device's status.
Column Information
- Device Name: Device identifier
- Owner: The owner of the asset
- MDM: The service /device management tool used to monitor the asset
- Compliant: The overall status of a device taking into account all controls being monitored.
- Operating System: The Operating System version running on the asset (where provided by the device management tool).
- Anti-malware: Is anti-malware/virus software installed?
- HD Encryption: Is the hard drive encrypted?
- Firewall: Is the software firewall enabled?
- Last Check: When was asset last scanned by the device management tool
Overriding a device's non compliant status
There can be scenarios where certain controls are not applicable such as when a user need to be logged in as local admin for their job role.
Although you may manually overridden the check in the MDM tool, often this override is not available in the data provided and so it is necessary to manually override the control in Adoptech.
Before overriding a device's control status, it is important to ensure that the control override is in line with your risk assessment and policies.
To override a control, click on the red exclamation mark and then select the control to override.
A confirmation modal will appear. Click on the Override button
If all devices are now compliant the device icon will change from a red exclamation mark to a green shield as above.
If more than one control failed, then the red exclamation mark icon will remain and any other failing control(s) will need to have their status overridden individually (or be resolved on the device itself).
